On behalf of the Chair of the SARCOS (CA 15202) COST Action, we are pleased to announce the 2nd SARCOS Training School, titled "Advanced materials and technologies based on inorganic binders". It will take place in Skopje and Ohrid (Macedonia, FYR), from 2nd to 7th of September, 2018. 

This course offers an opportunity that is mainly aimed towards young researchers (PhD students, young post-docs and MSc students) as well as representatives from industry.

Program

The course will cover important topics related to the scope and working groups of SARCOS COST Action with a special focus on up-to-date knowledge on advanced ma­terials and technologies related to in­organic binders. Self-healing of materi­als, role of nanomaterials, modern uses of composites, sustainability and safety requirements for the use of inorganic materi­als in construction.

The course consists of invited presentations, laboratory work and professional tour.

This Training School has received scientific sponsorship by RILEM.

Application

The number of seats will be restricted to around 30. Applications will be accepted in a first come, first served basis, until the totality of seats is covered, after checking the suitability of the applicant and considering that PhD students and ECIs working in the area will have a priority.

The student will be responsible for their own travel, accommodation and insurance. Meals (five lunches and two dinners) according to the program will be free of charge.

  1. Application form (please use the provided template and type or use capital letters).
  2. Motivation letter (1 page max) for participating in the training school, indicating the academic/professional status of the applicant.
  3. Short Curriculum Vitae (2 pag. max) in the area.

Grants from the SARCOS (CA 15202) COST Action

The SARCOS (CA 15202) COST Action will offer a fixed grant (amount still to be confirmed) to trainees coming from COST countries and Near Neighbour Countries (please check the eligibility conditions in the COST Vademecum, downloadable from the right menu of the COST website (http://www.cost.eu/participate). These grants are a contribution to travel, accommodation and diet expenses of trainees during their attendance to the course, but they will not necessarily cover the totality of the expenses.

Please note that these grants can only be received by those participants attending the entire course (6 days).

The grants will be given in a first come first served basis, after checking that the eligibility criteria are met, and that a reasonable country balance is found among granted trainees, as a COST requirement.

Grantees will receive their money AFTER the Training School, once their daily attendance has been confirmed against their signatures on the attendance list.

The number of grants will be around 30. The Grant Holder reserves the right to modify this number according to budget availability.

How to apply for a grant by the SARCOS COST Action?

Please send an email to Pepa Bayarri, the Grant Holder Manager of the SARCOS COST Action (ghmanager.upv@gmail.com) expressing your interest in getting a grant, with the following documents attached:

  • Document of your acceptation in the course, signed by the organisers.
  • Any kind of proof to show your affiliation to your institution (a letter signed by your supervisor, a copy of your contract/scholarship, etc.).
