1st SARCOS Training School

 Self Healing concrete: the path to sustainable construction 

Lisbon (Portugal), 23rd-25th January, 2018

On behalf of the Chair of the SARCOS (CA 15202) COST Action, we are pleased to announce the 1st SARCOS Training School, titled "Self Healing concrete: the path to sustainable construction". It will take place in Lisbon (Portugal), from 23rd to 25th of January, 2018. 

 
This course offers an opportunity that is mainly aimed towards young researchers (PhD students, young post-docs and MSc students) as well as representatives from industry.
 

Program

The course will cover important topics related to the scope and working groups of SARCOS COST Action with a special focus on:

  1. Self-healing strategies
  2. External repair methods
  3. Characterization techniques
  4. Controlled cracking processes in fibre reinforced cementitious composites
  5. Self-healing modelling
  6. Impact of preventive repair on corrosion aspects

The course consists of invited presentations, lectures and student-led lectures.

Application

The number of participants will be restricted to 20 trainees, and grants for partially covering their accommodation, meals and travelling expenses will be available upon approval of application.
Applications will have to include the following documents:
 
  1. Application form (please use the provided template and type or use capital letters). 
  2. Motivation letter (1 page max) for participating in the training school, addressed to Dr. Mercedes Sánchez Moreno (mercesanc@ietcc.csic.es) and indicating the academic/professional status of the applicant.
  3. Short Curriculum Vitae (2 pag. max) in the area.
  4. Any kind of proof to show your affiliation to your institution (a letter signed by your supervisor, a copy of your contract/scholarship, etc.).

Important dates

Training school: January 23th-25th2018

Deadline for Applications: November 30th2017

The evaluation period will take place from 1st - 18th of December2017.

The results of the evaluation will be announced by 20th December2017.
