On behalf of the Chair of the SARCOS (CA 15202) COST Action, we are pleased to announce the 2nd SARCOS Training School, titled "Advanced materials and technologies based on inorganic binders". It will take place in Skopje and Ohrid (Macedonia, FYR), from 2nd to 7th of September, 2018.
Program
The course will cover important topics related to the scope and working groups of SARCOS COST Action with a special focus on up-to-date knowledge on advanced materials and technologies related to inorganic binders. Self-healing of materials, role of nanomaterials, modern uses of composites, sustainability and safety requirements for the use of inorganic materials in construction.
The course consists of invited presentations, laboratory work and professional tour.
This Training School has received scientific sponsorship by RILEM.

Preparatory work
All participants are expected to complete the preparatory work detailed in the following section prior to the start of the 2nd SARCOS COST Action – RILEM Doctoral Training School. All the necessary information for the preparatory work, instructions for completion and submission can be found on SARCOS Training School // Skopje 2018 on Moodle in the Members only Area of the website; including:
- Lecture descriptions (short description of each lecture which will be presented at the training school)
- Module readings (list of publications related to each lecture)
- Presentation handouts (the presentations from each lecture will be available from the 25th August, 2018)
Please, download and read the materials before the start of the training school.
All participants are expected to prepare a poster and personal presentation before the start of the training school and upload them on the respective section on Moodle by the 20th of August (at the latest).
Please carefully read the Preparation instructions.
A printed version of your poster is also requited for the poster session during your course registration on Sunday afternoon, 2nd September.
During your stay in Skopje your poster will be discussed among the trainers and trainees. All the posters will enter a competition. There will be two aspects of your poster which will be evaluated by the trainers: “Technical format” and “Technical content”. Three awards (gold, silver and bronze) will be given according to the votes of the trainers. Also, you will have the opportunity to select a poster for a special “Trainee prize”.
More information regarding the group presentation will be send closer to the date.
Certificates for your participation in the 2nd SARCOS COST Action – RILEM Doctoral Training School will be handed over during the course closure on Firday 7th September.
All participants will be sent an email from 'Moodle'. You will be asked to create a username and password to enable you to access the online platform.
